This was a really weird year for gangbangs at MAL (Mid-Atlantic Leather). IMHO, there were too many bottoms at MAL this year and not enough tops. Apparently DC is a city of bottoms – people joked about how many of the “versatile tops” are actually total bottoms. But there were lots of out-of-towners too. Wherever they came from, the number of “gangbangs” at any given time was rather amazing. At one point I was getting emails asking if I had canceled my gangbang for the evening because people didn’t see it on the first page of parties listed in BBRT – it was well onto the 2nd page there were so many scheduled.

The competition among bottoms was pretty intense. Of of my favorite bottoms came down from NYC and scheduled 2 or 3 gangbangs for himself. Between those parties and 1-on-1 hookups he only got 12 loads. Hell, I’ve had gangbangs in the past where bottoms walked away with 15+ loads just from the one gangbang. And I’ve known bottoms who got 100+ loads over a weekend.

Still over 140 people had said they wanted to come to the gangbang. Usually I’d expect about 50 tops in a case like that (1/3rd). But only 27 showed up, and only 11 loads were given (including mine – and I’m not counted in the 27). So only about 1/3rd of the tops that showed up gave a load – that’s pretty bad…

It seemed morning gangbangs had better ratios, but smaller numbers. The Friday morning gangbang had 7 guys show up, and 6 loads were given. That’s a good ratio. The Monday morning gangbang 3 tops showed up and 2 loads were given. Actually two tops were turned away ’cause they arrived too late… One of them was actually really cute… Maybe I should have extended it for him 😉

Friday night 14 tops showed up, but only 4 loads were given – that’s fewer than 1 in 3… In that case the bottoms were a bearish/cubbish guy and a Latino with a bit of a sex pig vibe to him. That gangbang was actually a complete disaster. There were tons of spectators. If there had been a critical mass of true tops I would have thrown out all the spectators, but there wasn’t, and every now and then one of the spectators would join in. Then this gaggle of 20-somethings showed up. The funny part was I had thought for the orgies I had scheduled that anyone who showed up in just a jockstrap would be a good participant. That’s a lame ratio – just barely better than 1 in 5 tops gave a load. So it was the same in terms of attendance and loads as the Friday failure, but at least this time there was lots of fucking going on. A lot of black guys showed up for some reason which gave the gangbang a very interracial tone, but the problem was I don’t think any of the black guys came. I think they were more into each other than into the designated bottoms. At one point one of them was sucking the other. Actually, just finding bottoms for this gangbang was a challenge. I had two guys lined up and confirmed, but neither of them showed up. Then there were two guys who were really interested – I told them to come around the start time and if I needed a bottom they could bottom. So there I was 5 minutes before the start with no bottoms. The one good thing about there being too many bottoms at MAL is that it wasn’t hard to find bottoms at the last minute.
