Did An At Home OraQuick Test – Still Neg…

A couple months ago I had a weird illness. I’m guessing gastroenteritis but it felt like my whole body was shutting down. My best friend was pretty convinced it was fuck flu so lately when I’ve been going to pharmacies I’ve been looking to see if they have the OraQuick at home HIV tests. Well, the pharmacy I went to today did have it, so I bought it and did the test. Here’s the result…
That’s the instruction booklet on the left and the test stick in it’s little container of fluid on the right.
One line = neg.
It would have been weird if I had converted. My risk profile has been pretty much consistent. Yeah, one of my regular fuck buddies is poz and not on meds – but he’s a long-term non-progressor and his viral load isn’t all that high.
I’m sure one of these days I’ll test poz. I’m OK with that. But for now, I’m still neg…
There are two fucks I need to write up – one of which was the hottest ass I’ve fucked in a while. And in an hour Jayson Park is coming over to film a fuck scene with me… So I’m a little behind on my posts… Sorry about that. Will try to catch up soon, but I’ve been in a pretty mellow mood lately…
Funny how for neg guys that concern, low or high, never goes completely away. Thanks for sharing the post, I didn’t know the oral test was available at pharmacies.
Hey. Stop giving validity to these bogus tests. Got stealth tested without consent after a HepB Vaccine. They knew it would cross react and did it anyway. I will never take another test. They profiled me then tried to pigeon hole me. JUST SAY NO!
To add to rawTOP’s point… a positive result on one of these rapid tests is just the first step. Nobody is diagnosed as HIV+ (in the US anyway) without a followup test, usually a Western Blot, and while sometimes a vaccine can give a false reactive on the rapid test, that would be cleared up with the confirmatory test.
Congrats on the results! Did you miss the judgmental Charlie Brown nurse who usually scolds you?
You can’t really sue a doctor in NY for not obtaining consent for an HIV test… It’s a toothless myth that AIDS Inc. perpetuates. What exactly is the penalty for nonconsentual testing? No judge or jury will rule against a doctor on this.
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you posting stuff about your HIV testing results. As a neg top with a poz bttm bf, I do worry about transmission even after the HPTN 052 study, so it’s helpful for me to see another barebacking top that continues to test negative. I mean, I’m waaaaay less piggy than you, but the risk profile is pretty similar. Please keep us updated on your status, and glad to hear you’re still neg. Do you know many couples where the top is neg and bttm poz, and the top stays neg long-term? Or a site about this stuff. Most everything I find online about magnetic couples talks about how they use condoms religiously, but I pray to a different god i guess…
Hey RawTop..did you ever look into that “23andme” lab, I think it was?.Where they get a blood sample and do all the dna tests, then elaborate on hereditary history and can tell you the diseases/disorders that you’re most susceptible to/or more immune from. I saw you talking about it on here once.
@Mike He did it and published the results. No immunity whatsoever,
@rawtop… re: my post above. The point is doctor knew they screwed up. Removed charges, removed records and I haven’t had to pay for medical care since. The test kit, if you really look at the test disclaimer doesn’t allow for it’s use as a test to diagnose, but they are allowed to sell. Same with the Viral Load. No regulation. How the medical establishment decides to use it is not regulated either. And the test reading at the lab is subjective. And status is fluid… which means if you test + one time, you may test – another. But once someone is tested and they label you, the test is never done again. Is it? You just “have it”. Where is the validity in that? They shove you into Black Box ARV’s. Yes be careful, but don’t bow at the altar of HIV. Thanks for listening.
Any chance you can tell us which pharmacy sells those tests? And how much it costs? I have looked around online for which retail pharmacies sell them, but all I can find are ones that sell the home kits that you have to send the test away in the mail and call for the results two weeks later. Not interested in that. If you can tell me, it would be awesome and I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Tested neg on one of those at the county health center, but tested poz a few months later with a blood test from my regular doctor… I think they are great, but definitely would rely more on the blood test.
I did one of these too, yesterday. It was super easy to understand (although I knew the procedure already). I tested negative, but was not too surprised by that. If I had to critique the kit, the only thing I would say is that it is a tremendous waste of materials. The container it comes in is made of very heavy plastic, and there’s a ton of printed material. Not a huge complaint, because I realize they have to do it (eg, cover their asses), but, it did produce alot of trash.
@everyone – trying to understand why everyone is no neg testing and neg status. Can you all afford the meds when you become poz? Because I can’t.
I’ve been addicted to rawTOP’s blog recently and absolutely amazed that he’s remained neg whilst basically doing what I’ve always dreamed of – having all the fun in the world!! But it’s a fantasy for me. Becoming poz sounds like a death sentence to me – I suppose I’m in a different place?
As a medical professional, antibody screening will work after 6 months of infection it takes time for the body to produce antibodies which is specific for hiv. What test you had done is only screening which may subjective to confirmatory.. After u have sex with somebody do you get fever? Soon episode of infection persist like flu like infection swollen lymp nodes that may gone soon..
